The Anjuman-I-Islam was established in the year 1875 with the objective of promoting educational, social, economic and general welfare of the community. Its activities span across the field of education and social work.

Anjuman-I-Islam’s Abdul Azim Khatkhatay English Secondary School is one of the Institutes running under its management. The School was established in the year 1997 and imparts school education at Pre-Primary, Primary and Secondary levels i.e.:- from Nursery to Std X. It is affiliated to the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary Education (SSC board).

The School is located at Vashi, Navi Mumbai. In addition to the regular subjects offered by the SSC Board, stress is laid on the all-round development of students. Apart from regular studies, students participate in several co-curricular & extra-curricular activities which include Karate, Computer Education,  Social Service, Sports, Elocution, Debating, Quiz, Art, Singing and Mono Acting amongst several others. They also attain proficiency in written & spoken Urdu.

The School is a symbol of National Integration and Secularism. Students from all communities come to this Institute to quench their thirst for knowledge and all round-development. This school has the highest percentage of non-Muslim students amongst all English Medium Schools run by Anjuman-I-Islam and the numbers of non-muslims enrolling here continues to grow.

The School is headed by the young and dynamic Mrs.Zulekha S.A.Siddiqui, B.Sc, M.A., M.Ed.Under her able guidance and leadership, a young and motivated Staff give their best to bring out the very best from the students. For ease of governance and to encourage healthy competition; elections to the ‘Students Council’ are held in the month of June. Students campaign with great zeal, enthusiasm and vigor for the posts of Head Boy, Head Girl, House Captains, House Vice-Captains and House Prefects. The ‘Investiture Ceremony’ is conducted after free and fair elections. There are four houses- Red, Blue, Green and Yellow & various Inter-House Competitions are held on a regular basis to promote sportsmanship and bring out hidden talents from within the students, Teachers too are assigned different Houses, which helps to bring up the competitive spirit in the School.

‘Adolescence Skills’ are imparted to Std VII and VIII students and their parents to help them smoothly guide through the adolescence phase. Several workshops are conducted in the School on a regular basis for giving the students a deep insight of various social evils and help them tread on the right path. Teachers too attend regular workshop for acquiring the latest educational and psychological skills in order to give the best to the students.

School Assembly’ is a daily affair wherein each class is in-charge of conducting the assembly for a week on a rotational basis. This helps bring out the Oratory skills of students and also helps highlights several socially -relevant topics.

Programmes celebrating Independence Day, Teachers ‘Day, Children’s’ Day, Sports Day, Republic Day, Annual Day, ‘Hindi Divas’, are just a small part of the celebrations.

Std X students are given extra attention. Educational workshops, study camps, Test series and extra coaching are just a small part of showing our passing batch how much we care. An active ‘P.T.A. also helps bring about a healthy relationship between parents and teachers.
