The World Population Day

The World Population Day is a United Nations initiative that the entire world celebrates on the 11th of July every year. Furthermore, the aim of this day is to create awareness about the exploding world population and the importance of reproductive health. Same was done at Anjuman-I-Islam’s A.A.K English Secondary School, Vashi. Students of the school had participated in huge number. Activities like poster competition, speech, poems recitations, Games were played followed by a wonderful skit. The Principal, Mrs. Zulekha Siddiqui, was extremely contented to see the active participation and to hear the concern of young generation towards ‘population explosion’. The students linked the menace of population increase with issues like poverty, unemployment, lack of education and accommodation. Family planning is not only a matter of human rights but is also central to women’s empowerment, reducing poverty and achieving sustainable growth.
