Student Council Elections and Investiture Ceremony 2024-25
Leadership is not about being in charge. It’s about taking care of those in your charge.” – Simon Sinek.
The Student Council Election at Anjuman-I-Islam’s A. A. K. English Secondary School, Vashi, was held with the aim of providing students a platform to nurture their leadership qualities. Serving as the voice of the student body, the Student Council plays a pivotal role in fostering the exchange of ideas, interests, and concerns within the school community.
The election process began with a preliminary round where students aspiring to be part of the Council were invited to submit their nominations for various positions. In the second round, Headmistress Mrs. Zulekha Siddiqui, along with senior teachers, conducted interviews to select candidates based on their merits, which included excellence in academics, sports, and overall behavior within the school. Candidates were shortlisted for the roles of Headboy, Headgirl, Assistant Headboy, Assistant Headgirl, Captains, Vice Captains, and Prefects.
Campaigning kicked off on 29th July 2024, with candidates delivering persuasive speeches and creating eye-catching posters to present their manifestos and garner support from their peers. The final stage saw students from grades 8, 9, and 10 casting their votes. This electoral process not only allowed students to witness democracy in action but also gave them the opportunity to exercise their fundamental right to vote. The voting was conducted online, ensuring a fair, anonymous, and democratic selection process.
The eagerly awaited results were announced during the school assembly, leading up to the Investiture Ceremony for the academic session 2024-25, held on 6th August 2024 with great pomp and dignity. The ceremony began with the recitation of verses from the Quran, followed by the conferring of badges and sashes upon the elected members by the Honourable Principal, Mrs. Zulekha Siddiqui. The newly appointed student council introduced themselves and took a solemn pledge to uphold the school’s motto with honor. In her address, the Principal congratulated the council members and urged them to lead with impartiality, honesty, unity, discipline, and moral integrity. She encouraged them to work tirelessly towards the betterment of the school.
The ceremony concluded with the singing of the national anthem, marking the beginning of a promising new chapter for the Student Council.
